Kevin Slade, Executive Vice President of the DUX Group, reveals more about DUXIANA’s customisable sleep system, a new product launch and continued expansion.
Swedish bed and furniture manufacturer DUX has had some year so far. The business recently, and officially, celebrated its 100-year anniversary during 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen – an event that was an overwhelming success for the brand.
Back in the UK, Kevin invited Big Furniture Group’s editor to the DUXIANA store in Stamford to further showcase how the business offers the complete customisable sleep system, starting with a refresher of its unique component. It’s world-renowned spring technology.
“Due to the one-of-a-kind component-based design of our beds, we have a number of ways that customise the set up to best suit the individual,” Kevin said. “From the choice of spring firmness, to our unique Pascal system, to the choice of Top Pad firmness and also our DUX 80 – which features the adjustable lumbar support option, these four elements of the beds we produce ensures that we can deliver the DUX unrivalled comfort and deep sleep to anyone.”
In fact, August marks two years since DUX launched its Sustainable Comfort collection, now a staple in its product portfolio. The collection is its most advanced and customisable DUX bed to date but continues to offer the ability, like no other, to unzip the mattress to see within.
This now also allows you to replace three key components to both adjust and maintain the support and comfort. These three components are its ‘Removable Top Pad’, ‘Inner Comfort Layer’ and ‘Customisable Pascal system’ – its unique adjustable support system that allows customisation of the bed to an individuals’ needs in not only weight and height, but in shoulder width, hip density and musculature, which provides an “unrivalled level of both support and comfort”.
“Pascal uniquely provides the ability for the individual to unzip the top of the mattress and arrange the varying tension spring cassettes, one for each of the legs, hips and shoulders, to ensure true spine alignment that can be altered again and again over time as the individuals body changes so that the bed changes with them,” Kevin said.
As part of DUX’s 100-years anniversary, it launched celebratory products, which includes Lova, a new sofa created in collaboration with Danish designer Johannes Torpe. Known for his multidisciplinary approach spanning design, music and creative direction, Torpe brings a distinctly emotional and humancentred perspective to his work. His philosophy of creating meaningful connections between people and objects aligns closely with the DUX approach to comfort and considered design.
“Combining expressive form with the signature comfort engineering of DUX, Lova has been designed to feel both sculptural and inviting, bringing together visual softness, balance and support in one distinctive piece,” Kevin said. Furthermore, DUX has announced the launch of its first Outdoor Living collection that contains the world-renowned DUX springs system, which has already created a “huge buzz” around the brand. “During our exhibition, we also showcased our new outdoor furniture collection, bringing the legendary comfort of the DUX bed to outdoor living.
“Designed to offer the same level of support and relaxation found indoors, the modular collection combines flexible seating configurations with carefully selected materials suited to outdoor environments. From modular sofas and adaptable tables to adjustable sun beds, each piece is designed to support the body naturally while extending the DUX comfort experience into the outdoor environment. Both Lova by DUX and DUX Outdoor will be available from Q1 2027.”
In keeping with products, Kevin reemphasised that health and wellbeing are also core to its offering, which expands beyond beds. Pillows, bed linen and duvets are key ingredients of DUXIANA’s customisable sleep system. “The pillow is a super important and often an underappreciated element of obtaining deep sleep. The pillows job is to fill the void between the ear and the top of the bed when the user is laying down to ensure true top to bottom spine alignment.
“This has always been a key part of our business and plays a large part in our sleep consultation fittings. We offer a variety of different options, from fillings, to firmness and we even have another DUX unique product that contains micro springs within the core of the pillow to provide unwavering support.
“Bed linen is of course a necessity and a way to further enhance your comfort, however it also plays a key part in you sleep experience because comfort is a key factor in obtaining deep sleep, so we offer a wide selection of fabrics and colours to cater to all. It’s the same for duvets too. We offer a variety of seasonal options and we are also in advanced testing of a truly innovative temperature-controlled duvet that we are working hard to bring to market soon!
“We have always been focused on sleep health and wellbeing, which has long been part of our sleep consultations so all DUX bed owners are educated in the importance of this.”
From products to physical presence, DUXIANA is busy in the background sourcing new store locations, with Dublin, Milan, Paris and London all in the pipeline to open. “We are continuing to invest in new store locations and product innovations,” said Kevin. “We’re excited about the next phase of our journey, building on our 100-year heritage and continuing to evolve.”
