Sales up again at Norfolk department store group

The parent company of Holt-based home furnishings department store retailer Bakers & Larners has reported a growth in turnover.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 28 February 2026, total sales rose 3.5% to £23.3m from £22.5m in 2025.

The group said that retail sales rose 5.7% to £18.4m from £17.4m, while builders merchant revenues dipped slightly to £4.9m from £5m.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £120,000, down from £257,000 on the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Turnover for the year increased from £22.5 million to £23.4 million in the year to 28 February 2026 however gross profit fell from £3.5 million to £3.2 million as the group felt the impact of the increase in staff related expenditure.

“The Budgens store in Holt had another successful year as it continued to re-establish its new store following its reopening in March 2023.”
