Supermarket group ASDA has issued a product recall on a cushion bench pad over fire safety concerns.

In a notice by the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the product recall is for the George Home Bench Pad.

The products origin is unknown with the recall including black, tan, green, natural and grey colourways. It was sold under the George brand.

A statement said: “The product presents a risk of fire because, if the bench pad were to come into contact with a naked flame, it would melt and allow the internal filing to catch fire and continue to flame.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988. The product has been recalled from end users.

“Owners are advised to cease use of the product and return it to their nearest ASDA store for a full refund. For further information, please see the ASDA website or contact 0800 952 0101.”
