ASDA recalls more George brand seat pads over fire risk

Supermarket group ASDA has issued a product recall on seat pads and cushions over fire safety concerns.

In a notice by the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the product recall is for the George Home Cushions and George Home Square Seat Pads.

The products origin is unknown with the recall including square cushions in a variety of colours, sold between January 2023 – December 2025, and square seat pads sold in a pack of two, sold between 2020 – 2025.

A statement said: “The product presents a risk of fire because the filling may not be fire-retardant. This means that if the seat pad comes into contact with a naked flame, the internal filing will catch fire and continue to flame.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.

“The product has been recalled from end users. We recommend that consumers stop using the product immediately and return it to their nearest store for a full refund.”

This marks the second time ASDA has issued a recall following the George Home Bench Pad, which was also due to fire safety concerns. (See related).
