Carpets maker sees sales and profit decline

Carpet manufacturer Brockway Carpets has reported a decline in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025, total sales fell 12.9% to £14.8m from £17m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £352,000, down from £821,000 recorded against the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “The retail market for floorcoverings remained weak during the reported year. In addition, the loss of business from the Nestware group which contributed to the premium part of the market, has influenced sales demand.

“To counter these effects the business has focused on supporting the existing customer base and developing key growth potential customers. There has been an active range development programme and investments in sampling and instore presence have continued strongly.

“Where the company has refreshed a range the sales have responded positively. The core ranges have all been developed and some of that effect is within the year. When relaunched, ranges grow ahead of the market.”
