Chinese cot bed and mattress rejected at border over safety risk

A Chinese cot bed and mattress has been rejected at the UK border after presenting a high risk of choking.

The product, which originates from China under the brand Beedome, is described as a children’s cot frame with mattress.

The product presents a high risk of choking as the internal stuffing can easily be accessed via a zip.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards stated: “The product presents a high risk of choking as the internal stuffing can easily be accessed via a zip. If a child accesses this filling, they may place it in their mouth and choke. Improvements are also required to the product marking and labelling.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. The import has been rejected at the border.”
