Conran Shop narrows losses as sales fall below £10m

High-end designer furniture retailer The Conran Shop has reported a decline in sales although losses narrowed.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 March 2025, total sales fell 35.5% to £6.9m from £10.7m in 2024.

Pre-tax losses narrowed to £4.2m from a loss of £10m recorded the previous year.

During the period, the company closed its Marylebone store as part of a wider strategic review of the UK retails portfolio to consolidate operations into a single flagship site, as well as overseeing the voluntary liquidation of its French subsidiary, The Conran Shop SAS, following several years of trading losses.

Furthermore, the company continued the integration and full year trading of its Kuwaiti joint venture subsidiary, established in partnership with local business group in the prior period, further expanding the brands’ footprint in the Middle East.

Stated within its report, The Conran Shop said: “The Company made a loss for the period and has continued to incur losses subsequent to the period end. Performance remained below expectations due to continued weakness in consumer confidence, cost inflation, and ongoing structural changes within the retail environment. The directors do not expect a return to profitability within the next 12 months.

“Despite these challenges, the shareholder has continued to provide financial support, enabling the ongoing restructuring and recapitalisation of the business. The restructuring programme focuses on rationalising underperforming operations, optimising the cost base, and strengthening the brand’s product proposition.”
