Danish furniture manufacturer MuteBox has confirmed its exit from the UK market after suffering heavy losses.
The company, which supplies soundproof office pods and meeting rooms, first entered the British market back in 2023. Its showroom was located at The Ministry on Borough Road in London.
However, according to its results for the fiscal year 2024/25, the company recorded a loss of 8.1 million DKK, more than double the previous year’s deficit, as revenue fell by over 30%, with the UK expansion costing the business around 5 million DKK.
CEO Thomas Stephansen attributed the decline to a strained market and the costly decision to exit the British market. “It was an expensive setup. The UK is a large and exciting market, but also very costly. We’ve stopped the bleeding, and the decision to withdraw was not difficult.”
Following the exit, MuteBox has turned its attention to grow in its native country as well as expand across Scandinavia.
