Dura Beds: Where Great British Sleep Is Made

In the heart of West Yorkshire – the historic beating heart of Britain’s bed-making industry – Dura Beds has been quietly perfecting the art of a great night’s sleep.

From its base in Batley, this proudly British manufacturer has grown into one of the UK’s most trusted names in mattresses, divans and complete bedroom solutions. Not bad for a company that started with a simple idea: do things properly.

Founded in March 1998 by two friends with a shared passion for quality craftsmanship, Dura Beds began life in a modest 12,000-square-foot factory in Liversedge. What set the business apart early on was a relentless focus on detail, reliability and customer care – values that quickly earned it a loyal following. As demand grew, so did the ambition. In 2007, Dura Beds made a bold move into a purpose-built manufacturing site covering more than 125,000 square feet, marking a major milestone in its journey.

Fast-forward to today and Dura Beds employs over 165 skilled people across West Yorkshire, proudly holding its place as the UK’s second largest independent bed and mattress manufacturer. Each week, the factory hums with activity as around 4,500 mattresses and 2,500 divan beds roll off the production line, supplying retailers, hospitality providers and customers across the UK.

Craftsmanship Meets Choice

At its core, Dura Beds is all about comfort you can count on. By blending traditional British craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques, the company has built an impressively diverse portfolio of brands designed to suit both retail customers and commercial environments.

From day one, the focus has been on choice – helping retailers meet customer needs without compromise. The Heritage range delivers timeless comfort and everyday reliability, while Trio offers adaptable sleep solutions for different lifestyles and preferences. For hotels, housing and care environments, Dura Contract provides robust, compliant products built to perform night after night.

Innovation continues to drive the brand forward. Alongside established collections, such as Coppercare and Dura Motion, Higgy’s is the latest addition and is built around the Comfort Equation, combining back support, pressure relief and temperature balance to improve sleep quality and everyday comfort. Higgy’s helps customers sleep deeper, wake up feeling better, and move more comfortably through the day, making it a strong choice for retailers seeking a proven back care mattress.

Complementing this expansion is a growing range of new headboard designs, offering retailers even greater flexibility – from clean, minimalist silhouettes to statement pieces that bring personality and polish to the bedroom.

Behind the scenes, the company’s in-house British Technology initiative rigorously tests materials and constructions to ensure durability, support and long-lasting comfort. Whether it’s pocket springs, memory foam or thoughtfully engineered divan bases with smart storage solutions, every detail is considered.

Proudly Yorkshire, Trusted Nationwide

Rooted firmly in Yorkshire soil, Dura Beds manufactures locally to support regional employment while maintaining tight control over quality. As a proud member of the National Bed Federation (NBF), the company demonstrates its commitment to responsible manufacturing and industry best practice.

Looking Ahead

With more than 25 years of experience behind it, Dura Beds continues to evolve – expanding its brand portfolio, refreshing its designs and investing in innovation. What hasn’t changed is its focus on what really matters: well-made beds, thoughtful design and dependable comfort – helping people drift off and wake up better, night after night.
