Fitted furniture maker plots factory relocation

Fitted furniture manufacturer JTC Furniture has revealed plans to relocate its factory to a new home.

According to a planning application submitted to Dundee Council, the proposal is for a new residential-led development on the site of the current JTC Furniture factory on Harrison Road at Camperdown, Dundee.

If approved, this would financially support the relocation of the company’s manufacturing facility to Dunsinane Industrial Estate.

The plans follow a strategic review of the site following JTC’s acquisition by Woodland Kitchens back in April 2024. The new owners underwent a review of operations, which identified that the existing Camperdown site was no longer fit for purpose and that the cost of redevelopment was not viable.

Several relocation options were considered, including moving operations to Woodland’s headquarters in Northern Ireland. However, the company made the decision to remain in Dundee to retain its skilled workforce.

The relocation has been forward-funded, with revenue from the proposed Camperdown residential development required as part of the overall business plan, with the new factory set to bolster efficiency processes.

JTC Furniture also operates out of another manufacturing facility in Dundee, which is located in Manhattan Works.
