Furniture manufacturer Leisure Furnishings has reported a decline in sales as well as a loss.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2025, total sales fell 28.2% to £9.9m from £13.8m in 2024.
Pre-tax losses resulted at £982,000, down from a profit of £684,000 recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said: “Rising costs have been an ongoing challenge for the business; including the statutory wage increases and rising national insurance costs that came into force in April 2025.
“The business also retained excess direct labour during the first and second quarters of the financial year, whilst we were in negotiations to make a potential acquisition. These costs have not been passed on to our customers, due to the challenging market conditions for all stakeholders in the Leisure sector, resulting in a loss for the second time in the business’s 25-year history.
“Leisure Furnishings have proudly reached its 25th year in business this financial year with a number of awards given to our long-standing employees who have been with us since the beginning. We continue to look ahead to the future, which allows us to react quickly to any external pressures.
“With many long serving members of staff and a strong management team in place we understand the industry well and take the time to understand our customers’ requirements to deliver a professional and bespoke service.”
