Furniture imports down in October 2025; exports rise

Furniture imports during October 2025 decreased on the same month last year while exports from the UK rose.

According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £720.5m in October 2025, down 5.3% from £760.8m against the same month the previous year.

Imports from the EU registered a decline of 3.1% to £351.3m from £362.9m. Imports from Italy were up 16% to £84.7m, while Polish imports rose 0.5% to £69.4m. Imports from Germany were down 12% to £53.2m.

As for outside the EU, total imports were down 7.2% to a value of £369.1m from £397.8m. Chinese imports were down 6% to £258.4m, while Vietnam fell by 1% to £20m. Imports from USA declined 3.6% to £19.3m and Turkish imports fell 31% to £9.2m.

Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country rose 14% to £228.5m from £200.4m year-on-year. In Europe, exports increased by 11.8% to £112.1m from £100.2m. Exports to France decreased 9% to £30.4m, while Irish exports were up 1.9% to £23.2m. Exports to Germany rose 75% to £24.3m, while to Poland, exports were up 31% to £3.1m.

Outside the EU saw exports increase 16% to £116.4m from £100.2m. Exports to China were up 257% to £10.6m, while Singapore rose 253% to £4.2m. Exports to the UAE were down 22% to £6.8m, while the USA increased 13% to £57.6m.
