Furniture imports during March 2026 increased on the same month last year while exports from the UK also rose.
According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £835.1m in March 2026, up 7.4% from £777.2m against the same month the previous year.
Imports from the EU registered an uptick of 5.6% to £340.3m from £322.2m. Imports from Italy were down 0.06% to £67.2m, while Polish imports rose 7.4% to £65.9m. Imports from Germany were up 0.6% to £53.9m, while imports from Portugal rose 83% to £8.6m.
As for outside the EU, total imports were up 8.7% to a value of £494.7m from £455m. Chinese imports were up 6.1% to £347.1m, while Vietnam fell by 0.7% to £28.1m. Imports from USA rose 63.5% to £31.7m.
Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country rose 2.4% to £234.7m from £229m year-on-year. In Europe, exports increased by 1.4% to £114.4m from £112.8m. Exports to France decreased 15% to £30.4m, while Irish exports were down 1.4% to £22.4m. Exports to Germany rose 16% to £21.7m, while to Czechia, exports were up 20.4% to £6.2m.
Outside the EU saw exports increase 3.5% to £120.2m from £116.1m. Exports to China were down 72% to £2m, while Australia fell 12% to £2.9m. Exports to the Singapore rose 94% to £9.2m, while the USA increased 26% to £69.5m.
