Furniture imports during September 2025 increased slightly on the same month last year while exports from the UK declined.
According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £637.3m in September 2025, up 0.5% from £633.6m against the same month the previous year.
Imports from the EU registered an uptick of 0.6% to £309m from £307.2m. Imports from Italy were down 4.4% to £56.5m, while Polish imports fell 1% to £60.4m. Imports from Germany were up 13% to £59.1m. Notable rises came from Portugal, up 30% to £5.3m, and from Austria, up 60% to £2.2m.
As for outside the EU, total imports were up 0.5% to a value of £328.2m from £326.4m. Chinese imports were down 0.16% to £226.4m, while Vietnam rose by 3% to £15.4m. Imports from USA declined 4% to £17.6m and Ukrainian imports rose 141% to £2.3m.
Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country fell 3.8% to £209.3m from £217.7m year-on-year. In Europe, exports decreased by 5.1% to £101.7m from £107.2m. Exports to France increased 16% to £24.7m, while Irish exports were up 0.7% to £21.9m. Exports to Germany rose 61% to £26.1m, while to Poland, exports were up 42% to £2m.
Outside the EU saw exports decrease 2.5% to £107.6m from £110.4m. Exports to China were up 100% to £4.4m, while Malaysia rose 416% to £2.3m. Exports to the UAE were down 39% to £5.8m, while the USA decreased 7.9% to £50.6m and exports to Australia rose 49% to £3.2m.
