Furniture maker invests in factory expansion

Hotel bedroom furniture manufacturer Curtis Furniture has confirmed plans to expand its factory with a £1m investment.

The company has completed the acquisition of a new 25,000sqft factory, with the investment set to shorten lead times, increase production capacity and create 30 jobs.

The extended facility to its Leeds-based factory is expected to be fully operational by January 2026.

It will house a production line equipped with the latest machinery, including a new beam saw, edge bander and two CNC routing and drilling machines.

Curtis Furniture is also investing in industrial extraction units, a full compressed air system and upgraded LED lighting.

Paul Tierney, Head of Operations, said: “As Curtis continues to grow, this investment ensures we have the capacity, technology and skilled workforce to deliver at scale.

“Expanding our manufacturing footprint by a further 25,000sqft and bringing 30 new jobs to Leeds shows our commitment to driving growth in UK manufacturing.

“This investment will massively speed up our lead times, improve efficiency and support our sustainability goals, while firmly securing Curtis Furniture’s position as the UK’s largest hotel bedroom furniture manufacturer.”
