Furniture Outlet – HR Manager

We’re hiring an HR Manager at Furniture Outlet – a role with real ownership, variety and impact.

£40,000–£45,000 + Benefits (DOE) | Basildon, Essex HQ | Full‑time, Permanent

Furniture Outlet continues to grow across London, Essex and the Home Counties, with around 150 employees now and plans to open 20+ stores.

As we expand, we’re strengthening our HR function – and this role sits right at the centre of that journey. It’s an opportunity to join a fast‑moving retail business where HR genuinely shapes how teams work, develop and succeed.

This is a stand‑alone HR Manager position, ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, problem‑solving and supporting managers across multiple sites.

You’ll guide people leaders, refine HR processes and help build a consistent, positive employee experience across the business. The role blends hands‑on HR operations with strategic input as the company continues to scale.

What the role looks like day‑to‑day:

You’ll be the main point of contact for HR across the company, covering:
• Managing the full employee lifecycle – recruitment, onboarding, development and offboarding
• Leading high‑volume recruitment campaigns across retail, warehouse and head office roles
• Updating HR policies, contracts and documentation with support from Peninsula UK (specialist in Employment Law)
• Reviewing and improving HR processes to support a growing multi‑site operation
• Analysing HR data to identify trends and support decision‑making
• Overseeing weekly/monthly payroll in partnership with Finance
• Ensuring HRIS data is accurate, compliant and up to date
• Managing ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, attendance and performance
• Supporting health & safety processes with third‑party partners
• Driving employee engagement, communication and culture‑building initiatives
• Supporting managers with day‑to‑day HR queries and coaching conversations

What you’ll bring:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a generalist HR role
• Applicants must have Level 5 CIPD
• Strong communication skills and confidence supporting managers
• Experience handling ER cases with professionalism and discretion
• Ability to manage high‑volume recruitment
• Good understanding of employment law and HR best practice
• Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working independently
• Full UK driving licence (travel to sites required)

What we offer:
• Free on‑site parking
• Employee discount
• A role with genuine ownership and influence as the business continues to expand
• The chance to shape HR foundations for a growing retail brand

If you’re a proactive HR professional who enjoys variety, autonomy and being close to the people you support, we’d love to hear from you.
