Furniture retailer submits plans for Northampton store

Furniture and homewares retailer Oak Furnitureland has revealed plans to open a store in Northampton.

According to a planning application submitted to West Northamptonshire Council, Oak Furnitureland plans to open a store at Unit G at Riverside Retail Park in Fairground Way, off the A45 Nene Valley Way.

Oak Furnitureland has applied to install a mezzanine floor to increase the space, adding 537 square metres of extra retail floorspace. The changes would not alter the external appearance or height of the building.

Planning documents state: “The installation of the mezzanine will facilitate the occupation of the unit by Oak Furnitureland Group Ltd, who are not currently represented in Northampton.

“Once open, the store will create a range of new employment opportunities which will be primarily sourced from the local community.”

The proposed Oak Furnitureland store would join existing retailers including ScS, Furniture Village and Next, with a decision expected to be reached in early July.
