Furniture supplier narrows losses

Furniture manufacturer and supplier Balmoral Furniture has reported consistent sales as losses narrowed.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025, total sales were flat at £8.5m. Pre-tax losses resulted at £37,000, narrowing from a loss of £455,000 in 2024.

Stated within its report, Moffett and Sons Ltd, trading as Balmoral Furniture, Balmoral Contracts and Moffett & Sons Education, said: “Turnover during the current year was only marginally higher because of a continued depressed marketplace.

“As a consequence of not attaining anticipated turnover levels for the current year, and the cost of replacing an asbestos roof (£288,243), the company has incurred a loss before tax of £37,731. The roof replacement cost over the last two financial years has been £568,521.

“Our turnover in the next financial year to 31 March 2026 continues to be impacted by the poor economic climate. Although we anticipate that turnover will be maintained, we expect that, with continued control over our overheads and raw material costs, a break-even position will be achieved at the end of the year.”
