Garden and bedroom furniture searches popular during January 2026

UK searches of furniture during January picked up with the January Furniture Show a popular search term, while garden furniture started to receive high volume in preparation for spring and bedroom furniture also delivered a mix of increased searches.

According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, three days during January 2026 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at seven days. The highest searched date was 3 January with a full score 100.

Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.

The results saw related searches of specific terms that included ‘moores furniture group’, up 2,800%, ‘moores furniture’ – up 2,400% – both largely due to its administration news as reported here, ‘january furniture show’ – up 450%, and ‘ikea garden furniture’ – up 200%. Other popular terms included ‘the range garden furniture’ – up 160%, ‘garden furniture set’ – up 90%, and ‘fitted bedroom furniture’ – up 56%, while ‘conservatory furniture’ was also up 60%.

Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.

Mattresses

Mattress searches recorded four peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 4 January with a full score of 100. Popular related brand searches included Simba Sleep (up 4,600%), Mattressman (up 200%), Harrison Spinks, Dormeo, Sealy, Sleepeezee and John Lewis. The terms ‘small double ottoman bed with mattress’ – up 70%, ‘dusk beds’ – up 60%, and ‘single mattress size uk’ – up 50%, were notable searches. Meanwhile, ‘john lewis mattresses king size’, ‘sizes of mattresses’, and ‘can you put mattresses in a skip’, searches were other high related queries. Furthermore, ‘what are the best mattresses to buy’ searches rose 4,300%, while ‘mammoth mattresses’ searches were up 3,250%.

Bedroom furniture

Bedroom furniture searches recorded five days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 3 January, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included Howden, Barker and Stonehouse, IKEA, Wayfair, Dreams, The Cotswold Company, French Bedroom Company and ercol. The terms ‘space saving bedroom furniture’, ‘dressing tables’, ‘ikea pax wardrobe’, ‘french style bedroom furniture’, ‘white and oak bedroom furniture’, ‘wooden bedroom furniture sets’, ‘ready made bedroom furniture’ and ‘mango wood bedroom furniture’ were high searches.

Dining furniture

Dining furniture searches recorded two days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 4 January, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included IKEA, Laura James, Argos, ercol, Furniture Village, Oak Furnitureland, Neptune, Furniture Box, The Cotswold Company and Gallery Direct. The terms ‘argos dining chairs’, ‘swivel dining chairs’, ‘garden dining table and chairs’, ‘furniture village sale dining tables’, ‘rattan dining chairs’, ‘round dining table for 4’ and ‘gallery direct furniture’ were all high related searches.

Living room furniture

Living room furniture saw one peak day during the month. The most searched day was 4 January that scored the full 100 score. Popular brand related searches included Next, DFS, IKEA, Oak Furnitureland, Very, Roseland Furniture and Furniture & Choice. The terms ‘living room wallpaper’, ‘small living room furniture ideas’, ‘walnut living room furniture’, ‘hallway furniture’, ‘wall art for living room’, ‘floor lamp’, ‘mirrored living room furniture’ and ‘cream sideboard’ were all standout searches.

Sofas

Sofa searches saw six peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 1 January. Popular related brand searches included DFS, Barker & Stonehouse, Darlings of Chelsea, G Plan, Snug, Parker Knoll, Sofa Club and The Cotswold Company. Search terms included ‘tiffany extendable sofa’ – up 600%, and ‘behind sofa table’, up 100%. Other terms included ‘garden sofa set’, ‘garden sofa’ and ‘contemporary sofas’, which all performed highly, while ‘kc sofas lincoln’ saw searches rise by 3,650% and ‘2 seater sofas under 200’ rose by 400%.

Flooring & Carpets

Flooring searches saw 21 days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 24 January, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw nine days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 25 January scoring the full 100. Popular brand searches included B&Q, Karndean, Amtico, Howdens, Likewise, Sheffield Flooring Solutions (up 2,000%), Furlong Flooring, Tapi Carpets, Cormar Carpets, B&M and £99 Carpet Factory. Popular search terms included ‘dark oak laminate flooring’, ‘clearance vinyl flooring rolls’, ‘stair carpet ideas’, ‘light grey carpet’ and ‘online carpets’. Other terms included ‘peel and stick flooring’, while ‘carpet tiles B&M’ searches rose 3,150%, and ‘£99 carpet factory’, increased 1,950%.
