Homeware high street sales down to end two-week run

Homeware sales fell on the high street, ending two straight weeks of positive sales.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 7.02% for the week ending 10 May 2026.

Homewares total LFLs fell by -4.40%, from a base of -3.73% for the same week last year.

Store homewares sales fell by -11.90% this week, compared to a positive base of +12.05% for the same week last year.

Total store LFL sales grew by +3.77% this week, compared to a positive base of +0.42% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales increased by +11.30% this week, compared to a negative base of -4.89% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Total like-for-like (LFL) sales were driven by strong non-store and fashion sales. This week saw a notable shift from warm, early summer conditions to much cooler and more unsettled weather.”

Springboard data showed overall footfall fell by -0.5% this week, led by high street footfall which fell by -2.5%, whereas retail parks footfall increased by +2.0% and shopping centre footfall increased by +1.1%.
