Homeware sales rose again on the high street for an eleventh consecutive week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 1.54% for the week ending 14 September 2025.
Homewares total LFLs went up by +1.73% from a base of +7.74% for the same week in 2024, signifying the category’s eleventh consecutive positive outcome.
Store homewares sales dipped by -4.65% from a good base of +10.42%, marking the category’s first negative outcome following eight consecutive positive results, while non-store sales for homewares fell by -2.90% from a positive base of +3.57%.
Total store LFL sales edged up by +0.49% from a base of +4.54% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales inched up by +0.72% from a strong base of +26.71% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Total LFL sales remained positive for a seventh straight week, though LFL growth for both store and non-store sales was flat. Fashion sales, both in-store and non-store, were positive, potentially driven by change of season shopping.
“The weather in the UK began warm but quickly turned cooler and wetter, with northern areas and Wales experiencing frequent rainfall and flooding. During the same week last year, the UK saw widespread rain, strong winds, and cooler temperatures.”
Overall footfall dropped by -2.0%, a decline that was driven by poor foot traffic results on high streets (-3.9%) and shopping centres (-1.4%). On the other hand, footfall in retail parks improved by +1.4%.
