Homeware high street sales remain positive for sixth week

Homeware sales maintained positive on the high street for a sixth straight week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales fell 7.13% for the week ending 14 December 2025.

Homewares total LFLs increased by +4.20% from a good base of +4.00% for the same week last week, representing the category’s sixth consecutive positive outcome.

Store homewares sales dipped by -2.40% from a positive base of +6.50%, marking the category’s third negative result in the past five weeks, while non-store sales for homewares rose by +8.10% from a base of -1.03%.

Total store LFL sales went down by -3.49% from a base of -3.16% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales tumbled by -7.67% from a positive base of +1.65% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Total LFL remained in negative territory and recorded the lowest result since the second week of March, as both store and non-store results sank into the red.

“The weather this week was unsettled with frequent rain and strong winds caused by Storm Bram, while some areas saw a bit of snow. The same week last year saw unsettled weather dominated by winter storm conditions caused by Storm Darragh.”

Overall footfall decreased by -0.9%, a decline caused by outcomes in shopping centres and retail parks, which fell by -2.9% and -1.2% respectively. On the other hand, high street footfall remained positive, growing slightly by +0.2%.
