Homeware high street sales remain positive for twelfth week

Homeware sales rose again on the high street for a twelfth consecutive week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 6.31% for the week ending 21 September 2025.

Homewares total LFLs soared by +12.33% from a base of -9.14% for the same week in 2024, marking the category’s twelfth consecutive positive outcome.

Store homewares sales rose by +5.70% from a base of -0.08%, signifying the category’s fourth positive result in the past five weeks, while non-store sales for homewares ballooned by +27.30% and offset a negative base of -16.66%.

Total store LFL sales grew by +4.14% offsetting a weak base of -2.31% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales climbed by +8.43% from a poor base of -2.76% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Strong non-store sales boosted total LFL sales for this week, with fashion and homewares posting double-digit growth outcomes, potentially reflecting change of season spending and cocooning due to autumnal weather.

“This week’s weather began fairly dry, although it warmed up midweek before becoming cooler with an autumnal feel by the end of the week. The UK experienced unsettled weather with frequent rain, foggy mornings, and average temperatures during the same week last year.”
