Homeware sales on the high street remained positive as overall sales slightly increased.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose +0.04% for the week ending 28 June 2026.
Homewares total LFLs (on an adjusted basis) increased by +1.10% this week, from a negative base of -1.92% for the same week last year.
Store homewares sales improved by +0.30% this week, compared to +7.22% for the same week last year.
Total store LFL sales fell by -2.50% this week, compared to a negative base of -2.08% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales increased by +10.96% this week, compared to a negative base of -3.39% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “This week was dominated by an exceptional record-breaking heatwave, culminating in the hottest ever day for June at 37.3C in Suffolk. New record highs were set in all four nations, and a red extreme heat warning was issued across parts of the UK. At least 600 schools in England either completely or partially closed, with widespread travel disruption across much of the country.”
Springboard data showed overall footfall fell by -2.7%, led by high street footfall which fell by -6.3% and shopping centre footfall (-2.7%), while retail parks footfall increased by +4.8%.
