Homeware high street sales rise following Father’s Day boost

Homeware sales on the high street returned to growth as overall sales increased.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose +8.23% for the week ending 21 June 2026.

Homewares total LFLs increased by +15.43% this week, from a negative base of -6.59% for the same week last year.

Store homewares sales improved by +21.30% this week, compared to -13.16% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales increased by +15.50% this week, compared to -10.36% for the same week last year.

Total store LFL sales saw the best performance since the start of the year, with LFL sales increasing by +10.40% this week, compared to a negative base of -1.88% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales saw their second-best performance this year, with sales increasing by +18.45% this week, compared to a positive base of +4.68% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “In the second-best performing week since the start of the year, likely boosted by Father’s Day, this week saw positive LFL sales for both in-store and non-store, and across all the retail categories (Lifestyle, Fashion, and Homewares).

“This week the UK saw a notable early summer warm spell, with heat building mid week, before becoming more mixed at the weekend.”

Springboard data showed overall footfall picked up by +0.8%, led by retail parks footfall which increased by +3.3% and shopping centre footfall (+2.6%), while high street footfall fell by -1.3%.
