Homeware high street sales rise for fifth straight week

Homeware sales rose on the high street for a fifth straight week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 1.34% for the week ending 8 February 2026.

Homewares total LFLs grew by +10.07% from a base of +6.90% for the same week last week, marking the category’s fifth consecutive positive week.

Store homewares sales increased by +6.85% from a positive base of +7.45% for the same week last year, representing the category’s third consecutive positive week. Non-store homewares sales rose by +13.45% from a base of +10.25% last year.

Total store LFL sales edged down by -0.22% from a base of +0.35% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales saw positive growth of +3.20% from a positive base of +7.99% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Total LFL sales have grown for two weeks. Having grown since the start of the year, total store sales edged down this week by -0.22%.

“Homewares was the strongest performing category having grown for five consecutive weeks, owing to healthy store and non-store sales, while lifestyle maintained positive growth for the second week.

“The first week of the month saw an unsettled start to February, driven by an Atlantic-driven low-pressure system with occasional drier intervals in eastern areas as the week progressed.”

Overall footfall fell by -2.1%, driven by high street foot traffic which fell by -3.7%, and shopping centre footfall which saw foot traffic fall by -1.9%, while retail parks saw footfall fall increase by +1.3%.
