Homeware sales rose on the high street for a second straight week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales fell 0.94% for the week ending 18 January 2026.
Homewares total LFLs climbed by +11.40% from a base of +0.27% for the same week last week, indicating the category’s second positive outcome in the past five weeks.
Store homewares sales fell by -2.15% from a base of +3.27%, signifying the category’s fifth consecutive positive week.
Total store LFL sales went up by +2.00% from a base of +4.38% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales dipped by -2.83% from a base of +12.63% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “The weather this week was mostly mild, unsettled, and windy, with frequent showers and brief brighter spells.
“The same week last year saw a cold; occasionally frosty start give way to milder conditions.”
Overall footfall decreased by -1.8% compared to the same week last year. High street footfall dropped by -3.6%, while shopping centre results declined by -1.3%. In contrast, footfall in retail parks grew by +1.7%.
