Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has revealed the closing date of its Aberdeen store as plans for a new location remain underway.
plans to open a new store in Aberdeen after it previously confirmed the closure of its Wellington Circle store.
Back in October, IKEA stated that its store on Wellington Circle Retail Park, which first opened back in 2016 and has traded for nine years at the location, would close, adding it was exploring other locations to remain in the North East.
At the time, IKEA said: “We can confirm that we’ve taken the decision to close our Order and Collection Point in Aberdeen. Our commitment to the city remains and we’re currently exploring new locations in the area.
“IKEA continues to have a strong presence in Scotland, with stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and a new Plan and Order Point opening in Dundee in the near future.”
Now, the retailer has revealed it officially close for the final time on 1 March 2026 and is currently holding a closing down sale with offers including up to 50% off ex-display furniture and at least 30% off all ex-display home furnishing products.
Furthermore, IKEA plans to open a new Plan and Order Point store in Aberdeen’s Union Square shopping centre, with the store earmarked to open in spring.
The new location will feature kitchen, bedroom and storage planning services, as well as a collection area for online orders, with customers able to return IKEA purchases to the store.
IKEA stated: “As we prepare for an exciting new chapter for IKEA in Aberdeen, this sale offers customers the chance to bring home some of our well-known display pieces at some exceptional prices.
“Our upcoming move to Union Square will help us better meet the needs of customers by offering more convenient access to our full product range.”
