IKEA to open new Plan and Order Point in Dundee

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has announced plans to open the doors of its brand‑new Plan and Order Point in Dundee’s Kingsway West Retail Park on 19 March 2026.

IKEA Plan and Order Points are smaller stores, designed to provide customers with bespoke kitchen and storage planning services. At these locations, customers can access in-depth home furnishing advice and expertise, assisting them in planning, purchasing and installing their ideal kitchens, bedroom and living room storage.

Once open, customers will be able to drop-in or book an appointment online to start their design with one of the design specialists based in the store, part of the eight-strong Dundee co-worker team. Products can then be ordered from across the full IKEA range for delivery direct to the customer’s home or to the Plan and Order Point for collection.

The brand-new Plan and Order Point, which marks its first‑ever presence in the city, will offer a collection area for online orders, with customers able to conveniently return IKEA purchases to the store. In addition to planning services, customers can shop from a curated range of 250 home furnishing accessories, including home décor, kitchen accessories and storage solutions, all available for immediate takeaway.

Kevin Coventry, Market Manager at IKEA, said: “We are so proud to bring IKEA to Dundee with the opening of our first-ever Plan and Order Point in the city. Our retail park location was carefully selected to ensure customers can conveniently drop into IKEA for bespoke support with their home planning needs while out and about. We cannot wait to open our doors and help the Dundee community design a better life at home.”

Joe FitzPatrick, MSP for Dundee City West, said: “I am delighted to welcome IKEA’s new Plan and Order point to Dundee. IKEA’s investment highlights the growing confidence in Dundee and our city’s future. It is fantastic to see a global brand like IKEA strengthening its presence in Scotland in a way that benefits our local economy and community, creates jobs, and offers something new for Dundonians.”

Leader of Dundee City Council, Councillor Mark Flynn, added: “I’m delighted to see IKEA choosing to invest in Dundee with the opening of this new Plan and Order point. It’s a welcome addition that reflects Dundee’s continued success in attracting investment and supports the work we’re doing to build a thriving, inclusive city.”

The opening of the Plan and Order Point in Dundee forms part of IKEA’s wider UK expansion strategy to bring the brand closer to where the many people live, work and socialise. Last year, the retailer opened seven new UK stores – two city centre stores on London’s iconic Oxford Street and in Brighton, two new Plan and Order Points in Hull and York, and three new-format small stores in retail park locations in Harlow, Norwich and Chester.

The opening of the Dundee store will bolster the retailer’s presence in Scotland, with existing IKEA stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow and a new Plan and Order Point format coming to Aberdeen.
