Independent furniture retailer Ponsford has reported a return to profit as sales remained consistent.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 July 2025, total sales were flat at £7.4m.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £47,000, improving from its loss of £57,000 recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said that gross margin increased from 45.1% to 46% during the year.
“The impact of a static and low growth economy, coupled with rising costs and the slow reductions in interest rates during the year has resulted in a lower level of consumer confidence in the housing market.
“This has put increased pressure on sales and margins with increases in fixed costs taking away opportunities for improved profits. Despite these challenges, the business has remained profitable.”
