Irish furniture retail sales showed an annual decline in both volume and value during December.
According to the latest Retail Sales Index data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) for December 2025, furniture and lighting sales saw an annual volume decline of -3.2%. On a monthly comparison, sales rose 1.2%.
The value of furniture and lighting retail sales increased 0.8% month-on-month, while falling by -3.3% on an annual basis.
Department stores saw annual volume fall -0.6%, while month-on-month rose 0.1%. As for the value, this rose 1.1% on a monthly basis, while rising by 2.3% annually.
Overall, the volume of Retail Sales decreased by 0.4% in the month and by 0.1% in the 12 months from December 2024. The value of Retail Sales was down 0.2% in the month and rose by 1.5% in the 12 months to December 2025.
