Irish furniture retail sales showed an annual decline in both volume and value during September.
According to the latest Retail Sales Index data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) for September 2025, furniture and lighting sales saw an annual volume decline of 3.1%. On a monthly comparison, sales were flat.
The value of furniture and lighting retail sales declined 0.7% month-on-month, while falling by 4.2% on an annual basis.
Department stores saw annual volume fell 1.7%, while month-on-month fell 6.5%. As for the value, this rose 9.2% on a monthly basis, as well as up by 1.2% annually.
Overall, the volume of Retail Sales increased by 0.2% in the month and by 3.5% in the 12 months from September 2024. The value of Retail Sales grew by 0.2% in the month and rose by 4.6% in the 12 months to September 2025.
