Husband-and-wife team, Nick and Sue Hughes, from Bideford, recently announced opening of a new German kitchen showroom in Barnstaple.

Kutchenhaus Barnstaple is a 1,722 sq. ft showroom space, situated at Green Lanes shopping centre, which offers the latest in German engineered kitchens, plus forward-thinking appliances from brands such as AEG, Smeg, Bora, Caple, Quooker, and more.

Owner, Nick, is a skilled kitchen industry professional with more than 40 years’ experience across building and kitchen design. Following the conclusion of his previous role due to the closure of Homebase Barnstaple in 2025, Nick decided it was the right moment to start a new, exciting venture doing what he loved.

Utilising his years of knowledge and existing relationships with German suppliers, Nick planned his Kutchenhaus franchise business, and today it is open to the public for the first time.  

Joining him for this journey is wife, Sue, who will be involved in the running of the business behind the scenes, plus welcoming clients. Together the pair will bring a personal, family feel to everything they do at the new showroom. 

Nick Hughes commented: “We want to ensure there’s a local feeling to Kutchenhaus Barnstaple, and that is a priority of ours. We’re employing local people, and our promise is that we will be a unique and honest business which offers exceptional service and products.

Furthermore, a new German kitchen showroom is now welcoming its first customers in Aylesbury. Located at Unit 1, 58 Cambridge Street, Kutchenhaus Aylesbury offers the latest in German kitchen innovation and a fresh perspective on kitchen quality in the town.

Managed by designer and kitchen specialist, Darren Gibbs, the showroom space features four full kitchen displays, a media centre and office areas, plus appliances from brands such as: Bosch, Siemens NEFF, Quooker and Caple.

Darren has over 30 years’ experience in the kitchen industry and a passion for creating stunning spaces. Previously working for different Kutchenhaus showrooms, he is determined to showcase the very best in German engineering to visitors of the new space.
