Retail shopping group N Brown has reported a decline in sales as well as a loss of almost £30m.
According to its latest trading update ended 1 March 2025, total sales fell 7.9% to £369.3m from £400.6m in 2024.
Adjusted EBITDA stood at £35.4m, down from £47.6m, while pre-tax losses resulted at £27.8m, down compared to its profit of £5.8m recorded the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company, which owns the JD Williams brand, said: “This year has seen the delivery of further enhancements for our customers, building on the pace gained in transformation in the prior year.
“We have launched new websites for JD Williams, Ambrose Wilson and Fashion World, whilst rolling out our Product Information Management (‘PIM’) System to further brands. Our new financial services platform continues to progress towards rollout to customers.
“Although there was some improvement in macro-economic indicators during the year, the online pureplay market has remained soft, and we have kept a disciplined focus on profitable trade.
“These conditions drove Group revenue down 7.9%, but which does reflect an improvement over the revenue trajectory seen in FY24, despite the market conditions.”
