Losses widen to over £8m at sofa retailer

Furniture retailer Sofa.com, part of the Frasers Group, has reported a decline in sales as losses significantly widened.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2025, total sales fell 17.2% to £22.6m from £27.3m in 2024.

Pre-tax losses resulted at £8.2m, down from a loss of £190,000 recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, Sofa.com said: “The Company has experienced a decline in turnover driven by the decline in the premium retail market accompanied by increased competition in key areas. This has also been impacted by decreased marketing resources during the year.

“Levels of profitability have declined primarily as a result of the impairment of an intercompany debtor and the non-repeat of intercompany dividends from 2024.

“The directors expect the Company to perform well in the future and believe it is well placed for growth in the future as economic pressures soften.”
