Norfolk department store group maintains sales growth

The parent company of Holt-based home furnishings department store retailer Bakers & Larners has reported a growth in turnover.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 29 February 2024, total sales rose 5.2% to £21.9m from £20.8m in 2023.

The group said that retail sales rose 13.6% to £16.6m from £14.6m, while builders merchant revenues declined from £6m to £5m. Property sales increased from £175,000 to £311,000.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £856,000, down from £1.3m on the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Turnover increase was largely driven by the larger Holt supermarket offering this year. Remaining retail sales held up well and actually increased year-on-year by 3%.”
