Opera gets smart with new electric blanket

Sarah Winn, Chief Marketing Officer at Opera Beds, shares an insight into the business and the launch of its new Flexi Electric Blanket.

Opera Beds has long been recognised as an expert for adjustable beds and mattresses across care, hospitality and consumer sectors. Established in 2004, its founding family started out with hundreds of years of combined experience from furniture, care and manufacturing industries, determined to take a fresh approach and embrace much-needed style and technology.

“We operate as both a manufacturer and retailer, serving diverse markets,” Sarah Winn, Chief Marketing Officer at Opera Beds, said. “Our mission is clear: To be the trusted leaders in delivering style-conscious, life-enhancing beds that redefine care, wherever it happens.”

This mission, alongside creating products to meet ongoing demand, has been key to its continued success. In fact, Sarah says that the biggest trend right now is comfort-driven technology in sleep products, which is an area of expertise at Opera.

“2025 has been an exciting and productive year for us,” Sarah continued. “We’ve seen strong momentum across our key markets, driven by innovative product launches and impactful marketing campaigns.

“Our focus on enhancing customer experience and expanding our reach has delivered excellent results, setting a solid foundation for continued growth. Consumers are seeking solutions that blend health benefits with lifestyle appeal, such as adjustable beds, smart mattresses, and heated bedding.

“This reflects a growing focus on well-being and home-based care, driven by aging demographics and demand for personalised comfort. The response to our new offerings has been fantastic, and we’re energised by the opportunities ahead.”

With product development in mind, Opera Beds has recently announced the launch of its new Flexi Electric Blanket, understood to be the world’s first electric blanket designed to be compatible with an adjustable bed.

“The Flexi Electric Blanket does not contain any metal wires, instead it utilises a smart fabric called graphene, a material that offers exceptional thermal conductivity and emits far-infrared heat,” Sarah explained. “This soothing heat penetrates deeply to support circulation, alleviate joint pain, enhance immune function, and improve metabolism, offering genuine therapeutic benefits.

“Its advanced design heats up rapidly and distributes heat evenly across the surface, eliminating cold spots and reducing the risk of overheating.”

The blanket is available in a single bed size, with the double size launching soon, while it also features a carrying handset control (single or dual), plus app technology to ensure full user control at the touch of a button, or via their smartphone.

“The launch of our smart electric blanket represents an important step forward in our mission to bring intelligent design and genuine innovation to the adjustable bed market,” Sarah added. “For some time, our customers have expressed a desire for an electric blanket specifically made for adjustable and profiling beds. We’ve listened carefully to that feedback and worked to create a product that redefines comfort, combining cutting-edge graphene technology with a wire-free, flexible design.

“We hope this launch reinforces Opera Beds’ commitment to enhancing quality of life through advanced, design-led solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. It’s not just about staying warm; it’s about feeling positive, sleeping better, and enjoying smarter, more effortless comfort every day.”

Beyond product innovation, Opera has also invested in refurbishing its Hull head office and showroom space, creating modern, welcoming environments that reflect its commitment to quality and customer experience.

Additionally, its “World of Difference” TV campaign has been a major milestone, boosting brand visibility and driving engagement across digital channels. “These initiatives underscore our dedication to combining cutting-edge products with exceptional service and brand presence,” Sarah said.

Looking ahead, and following the success of its Flexi Electric Blanket, the company is planning to expand its sleep tech accessories. Sarah revealed: “We want to introduce even more quality and style options across our existing range. Innovation and comfort remain at the heart of everything we do, and these developments will give customers greater choice and enhanced functionality.

“We’re also excited about our international growth. After launching in the US market at the start of 2025, the response so far has been encouraging. Building on this success, we have plans to accelerate our US expansion, ensuring Opera Beds becomes a trusted name in sleep solutions worldwide.”
