Profit trebles at London department store

High-end fashion and home furnishings department store Liberty has reported a growth in sales as profit more than trebled.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 1 February 2025, total sales rose 3.9% to £128.8m from £123.9m in 2024.

EBITDA resulted at £18.2m, improving from £11m. Pre-tax profit stood at £7.7m compared to £2.5m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Flagship store sales grew in the year. This was achieved by growing sales of Liberty’s own products alongside the strategic selection of high growth brands and new brand launches exclusive to Liberty. Further collaborations with carefully selected partners continue to accentuate Liberty’s unique brand identity.

“All product categories performed well within the store, with beauty and women’s being the categories showing most growth year on year. Liberty branded products continued to outperform third party brands, with strong performance in beauty, fabrics, women’s, accessories and home products.

“The Liberty e-commerce business has continued to grow profitably, with both revenue and the profit contribution of this business unit being higher versus last year. This was achieved through continued focus on editing the online range offering, seeking out operational efficiencies and controlling promotional activities.”
