Sales slightly down at furniture supplier during transitional period

Furniture supplier Bentley Designs has reported a slight decline in turnover and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2025, total sales fell 4.9% to £11.7m from £12.3m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £42,000, down from £82,000 recorded in the previous year.

UK sales were down to £7.3m from £8m, while overseas revenues increased to £4.3m from £4.2m.

While the year remained challenging, the company views the performance in the context of a wider transition period as the business invests in future growth.

Rif Lalani, Managing Director, commented: “Trading conditions remained difficult during the year, with consumer confidence and demand for discretionary, higher-ticket furniture purchases continuing to be under pressure.

“This was compounded by wider economic uncertainty, cost-of-living pressures and continued inconsistency in freight costs caused by global market disruption.

“Against this backdrop, Bentley Designs has maintained a strong focus on cost control and achieved a broadly break-even result while continuing to invest for the future. The business is in a transitional phase, with investment being made into new product categories, a broader supply base and enhanced digital capabilities.

“We are confident that these initiatives, supported by our long-standing reputation for quality, craftsmanship and market-leading logistics, will help position the company for sustainable growth over the medium to long term.”
