This month we’re asking retailers: Who has recently gone above and beyond in your business?
Home World Beds
Well, I’d like to nominate myself for this, putting up with customers, suppliers & staff is the bane of my life, I deserve a gold medal the size of a dustbin lid. Only joking, seriously only joking. We’d be nowhere without the customers; suppliers & staff we love them all. Within our business everyone pulls their weight & the culture of our company is to go above & beyond for customers, we want to be the most loved bed retailer in the area. A special mention to two people who have been with me for years; Stuart & Kieran they are extremely loyal & always go the extra yard without being prompted.
CloseCo
One person who has really gone above and beyond in our business recently is our website manager. As an online-first furniture retailer preparing to launch our first physical space, one of our biggest challenges has been bridging the gap between eCommerce and the in-store experience – particularly when it comes to comfort, which is such a key part of choosing a sofa. They introduced an innovative solution: a seat cushion sample that customers can purchase ahead of committing to a full sofa. This allows customers to try the comfort of our Octocore foam and feather quilted seat cushions in their own home, on their existing sofa, before making a larger investment.
Snooze
One person who has recently gone above and beyond in our business is John Anderson, our COO. John joined Snooze at a pivotal time and has already made a major impact through his leadership, operational discipline, and genuine care for the business and our people. He has stepped into challenging areas, brought clarity and accountability, and helped strengthen the foundation we need for long-term growth.
Dreamland Bedding
Our General Manager, Matt Randle, has delivered exceptional value to the business this year by stepping into a series of influential leadership roles beyond our walls. His appointments as Chair of the Community Enterprise Guild, Vice Chair of the Brierley Hill Community Forum, and his new position on the Town Board places him at the centre of strategic decision‑making for the area. For the business, this isn’t symbolic, it’s commercially significant. His involvement ensures we have a direct voice in long‑term planning, regeneration priorities, and the shaping of the local economic environment. It strengthens our relationships with key partners, opens doors to new opportunities, and positions us as a leading stakeholder in the area future.

If there is one group that has truly defined going above and beyond recently, it is our entire Warehouse Department. We recently undertook the monumental task of moving our distribution centre to a new site three times the size of the original. This wasn’t just a move; it was a total transformation of our operations. It required unwavering dedication & extraordinary physical and mental Labour. The team managed the sheer scale of moving and reorganising inventory into a massive new space without missing a beat. Furthermore, every step they took was driven by the goal of improving our business, operational capacity and, ultimately, the level of service we provide to our customers. We are so proud of how the team handled every challenge with resilience and professional pride. Their collective effort hasn’t just given us more space; it has built a stronger foundation for our future. To every member of the warehouse team: Thank you for your hard work and for seeing this vision through to reality.
