Timber importer continues to invest to remain competitive

Timber importer for the furniture and beds industry, Service Timber, has reported a slight decline in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 January 2025, total sales fell 1.7% to £27.4m from £27.9m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit amounted to £582,000, down from a profit of £594,000 the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “We supply principally to the bedding industry, supplying cut to length timber components, we have expanded into the further working of these products to increase margins.

“Our recent investment in machinery has allowed us to offer a more competitive and complete service in the industries we supply.”

Service Timber supplies a number of industries including the furnishings sector for pine furniture, divan bases and ottoman bed sets, as well as garden furniture.
