UK sales fall at furniture components supplier; profit up

The UK division of US furniture and mattress components supplier Leggett & Platt has reported a decline in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024, total sales fell 16.2% to £49.6m from £59.1m in 2023.

UK sales fell to £45.1m from £51.8m, while EU sales declined to £3.8m from £6.1m. Rest of the world revenues stood at £657,000, down from £1m.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £10.1m, up from £10m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Turnover showed a decrease on the previous year of 16.2%. This was because of volume decline due to market conditions across the UK & Europe in 2024.

“Operating profit margin was 5.7% compared to 11.3% in 2023. This was driven by volume decline and competitive pricing in the industry and material margin compression.”
