Bespoke upholstered furniture manufacturer Ashwood Designs has reported a slight uptick in turnover and profit.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2025, total sales rose 0.8% to £28.2m from £28m in 2024.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.19m, up from £1.15m recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said: “Overall, Ashwood Designs delivered a resilient top-line, with improved turnover up by 0.8% despite a softer market backdrop. This stability reflects consistent order intake and effective sales management, underpinned by a strong product pipeline and effective commercial execution.
“The business strives to continually deliver and evolve with an innovative product range backed with a solid pipeline of upcoming models manufactured to the highest quality standard as it leads the way energized with a promotional boost for sustained long term growth.
“Gross profit, however, declined by 4.0%, eroding gross margin by 1.38%, due to supply-chain cost pressures, particularly raw-material inflation and elevated shipping expense.
“Pre-tax profit for the year increased to £1,196,684, representing a modest uplift of £39,114 (+3.4%). The overall improvement in pre-tax profit demonstrates resilience in core operations but highlights the growing impact of interest expense on profitability with a shift in financing costs (interest up £111k) and the reversal of a prior-year tax credit into a substantive tax charge in FY2025.
“This reflects a period of strategic investment and operational resilience. Looking ahead, management is committed to optimising the capital structure and reducing borrowing costs, this action will ensure that financial discipline becomes a catalyst for sustainable growth.”
