Welsh family business embarks of major store revamp

Family furniture retailer George Street Furnishers has revealed plans to implement a major refurbishment project as part of its 75th year celebrations.

The Newport-based business, which is located on George Street, is revamping the upper level of its store, with roof renovations almost complete.

While works are ongoing, the retailer will be sectioning off parts of the top floor in store and has appointed local firm Reinvigorate Global Ltd to produce a design and complete the new scheme.

This includes new walls, ceilings, lighting and flooring as well as a refreshed instore layout, reinforcing its long-standing presence in the city centre – dating back to 1951.

Luke Sheppard, Director at George Street Furnishers, commented: “It’s our 75th year in business and to mark it we are refurbishing our top floor with an exciting new design including works of a new roof, ceilings, floors, walls, lighting and product selection.

“This refurbishment marks the ever continuing works undertaken in store to ensure we have an attractive, inspiring retail premises for customers to browse our home interiors and outdoor furniture in.”
