The UK division of home furnishings retailer Williams-Sonoma, owner of the West Elm brand, has reported a decline in sales and profit.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 2 February 2025, total sales fell 5.2% to £14.3m from £15.1m in 2024.
Profit resulted at £398,000, down from £423,000 recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said: “Turnover shows a slight decrease in 2025 compared to 2024, as the Company faced the challenges arising from the adverse economic conditions noted above, which contributed to underperformance.
“This was partially offset by the reactivation of the wholesale shop in partnership with the Company’s largest department store retail partner during the period.
“Operating expenses increased in 2025 compared to 2024, primarily due to higher operating lease rentals resulting from increased warehouse space usage and higher costs upon lease renewal.
“Meanwhile, cost of sales as a percentage of turnover decreased as a result of lower input costs in accordance with the Company’s Distribution Agreement with Williams Sonoma Singapore, Pte. Ltd.”
