Homeware high street sales make strong return to growth

Homeware sales on the high street returned to double-digit growth as overall sales increased.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose +2.47% for the week ending 2 August 2026.

Homewares total LFLs surged ahead and grew by +25.10% (adjusted) this week, from a positive (adjusted) base of +9.80% for the same week last year.

Store homewares sales increased by +14.05% this week, compared to +23.30% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales increased by +47.90% this week, compared to -4.50% for the same week last year.

Total store LFL sales have grown for five consecutive weeks and increased by +2.80% this week, compared to a positive base of +7.04% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales increased by +4.22% this week, compared to a positive base of +14.09% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “The growth in total like-for-like (LFL) sales this week was, however, largely driven by Homewares sales.

“This week southern and eastern parts of the UK saw very warm to hot conditions, while northwestern regions saw more frequent showers, cloud, and cooler conditions.

“A large swathe of central, eastern, and southern England were declared to be brought caused by low rainfall and higher temperatures.”

Springboard data showed overall footfall increased by +2.0% this week, driven by retail parks footfall which increased by +5.2%, followed by shopping centre footfall (+2.6%), and high street footfall (+0.1%).
