Sales and profit up again at department store retailer

Family-owned department store retailer Dawsons has reported another growth in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2025, total sales rose 6.3% to £43.9m from £41.3m in 2024, further adding to its growth of 2.3% from £40.4m in 2023.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £715,000, up from £658,000 recorded the previous year, also marking a consecutive year of bottom-line growth.

Stated within its report, Dawsons said: “Turnover for the year appreciated in most categories, with the overall current year position appreciating by 6.3% to £43.9m, compared to prior year.

“In turn gross profit improved to £14.80m (2024: £14.64m), representing a 1% appreciation from prior year. This was affected by increases to wages and energy costs.”
